Baby knitwear MOQ: how to plan your first wholesale order

Start by asking what the minimum applies to

MOQ means minimum order quantity, but a single number does not explain the whole order. Ask whether the minimum applies to each product, each color, each size or the complete order. A minimum for one existing style may differ from a custom yarn color or a private-label version. Record the exact scope beside the quoted number so your planned assortment matches the supplier’s production requirements.

Build your size and color breakdown first

Write the quantity you want for every size and color, then total each style. For example, an assortment of three sizes in two colors has six combinations to discuss; it does not establish that a supplier will accept mixed quantities. Ask whether sizes can be combined toward the style minimum and whether each color has a separate requirement. Use the same breakdown when comparing quotations.

Separate a sample request from a production order

A sample is a separate arrangement, with its own availability, charges and shipping. Do not assume that a listed wholesale minimum prevents you from asking about a sample, or that buying one sample commits you to a production run. State whether you want to evaluate an existing style, check a size or develop a custom detail. Confirm the sample costs before proceeding.

Check the minimum shown on the product page

Mimixiong’s staff-managed products show their configured minimum order quantity. Where online checkout is available, the quantity must meet that product’s minimum and remain within available stock. The reference collection uses enquiry pricing: ask for its current minimum instead of treating the enquiry quantity field as a confirmed production minimum. A saved favorite or prepared enquiry does not reserve stock.

Compare the order total, not only the unit price

Multiply the quoted unit price by your agreed quantity, then list sample fees, label development, packaging, freight and other stated charges separately. A lower unit price at a higher minimum can require more cash and leave more unsold sizes. Compare assortments that fit your intended collection and ask how the price changes if you alter the quantity. Confirm the final payment and delivery terms in writing.

Use a short, specific enquiry

Include the product link, preferred colors, size breakdown, quantity per combination and delivery country. Add whether you need samples, labels, packaging or a custom color. Ask the supplier to confirm the minimum per style and color, which sizes may be mixed, the currency, quote validity and expected timing. These details create an enquiry that can lead to an actual order decision.
