A private-label baby knitwear brief: labels, colors and packaging
Plan a private-label baby knitwear enquiry with product references, yarn and size requirements, brand artwork, packaging details, minimums and sample approval.

Choose the base collection before adding your branding
Start with the garments and accessories your collection actually needs: rompers, cardigans, coordinated sets, blankets, hats or booties. Link to the reference styles and explain which details you want to retain or change. Labeling an existing design and developing a new design are different projects, so ask the supplier to identify the development work included in its proposal.
Specify yarns, measurements and colors
Describe the desired fiber composition, garment measurements and finished size range. Use an actual measurement chart where possible rather than relying on an age label. Identify existing colors you can accept and any custom color you want evaluated. Ask how material changes and custom colors affect the minimum quantity, sampling work and schedule. Treat any digital color preview as a discussion reference.
Prepare the brand artwork and placement
Provide clear artwork for the brand name or mark, the intended label dimensions, label material and position on the product. Ask for a placement sample or proof before approval. Discuss brand labels, size labels and care information separately so one does not stand in for another. Confirm responsibility for the information required by your destination market with an appropriate specialist where needed.
Describe the packaging people will receive
Specify the packaging format, quantity per pack, label position and any barcode or retailer reference you intend to use. Ask whether the supplier provides the packaging or needs buyer-supplied components. Request a sample of the packed product if presentation matters to your store. Record the costs and minimum quantities for packaging separately from the garment minimum.
Make design rights and substitutions explicit
Explain which artwork you own or are authorized to use. Ask how existing manufacturer designs may be adapted and whether any exclusivity arrangement is offered. Record the scope of any agreement instead of assuming that adding a brand label creates exclusivity. Ask the supplier to seek approval before substituting yarn, trims, labels or packaging from the agreed specification.
Bring the brief into one quotation
Combine your reference styles, size and color breakdown, quantities, artwork, packaging and destination in one enquiry. Ask for itemized development and sample charges, production minimums, unit prices, payment arrangements and timing. Review a sample before confirming a production order. The Clothing Lab can help communicate a visual concept, while the technical specification and approved sample establish the details to discuss with production.
