Writing a baby knitwear packaging brief for wholesale orders

Specify unit packaging, size-and-color identification, barcode artwork, carton breakdowns and packed samples before confirming a baby knitwear order.

Baby knitwear and sourcing details from the Mimixiong reference collection

Describe the individual product pack

Explain how each garment or set should be folded, presented and identified. State whether pieces in a coordinated set stay together and whether the customer-facing pack differs from the transport protection. Include desired package dimensions where shelf presentation matters. Ask which packing components the supplier provides and which you must supply. An instruction such as retail-ready leaves important details open, so replace it with a specific description or reference drawing.

Give every printed field an owner

List the product name, style reference, size, color and any other proposed information. Provide final artwork or identify who will prepare it, and state who will review the proof. Check that wording matches the approved garment specification. Brand presentation, care information and destination requirements are separate questions; do not assume one brand tag answers all three. Obtain appropriate advice for your intended market and approve the required information before printing begins.

Check barcode data before making artwork

If you need barcodes, confirm which identification system your retailer or sales channel requires and who is responsible for the identifiers. Provide the approved data in a clear file and connect each identifier to the exact style, size and color. Ask for a printed proof and check it with your own receiving or retail workflow. Do not copy a code from a reference product or assume that the supplier can allocate an identifier on your behalf.

Build the carton breakdown from the order grid

Specify whether cartons contain one style and color or a defined mix, and provide the quantities for each size. Ask for the proposed number of units per carton, carton dimensions and shipment weight information. Compare the packing list with your order grid so all totals reconcile. If a packing change alters carton count or transport estimates, request an updated quotation. Keep carton markings readable and consistent with the documents your receiving team will use.

Coordinate protection with the shipment plan

Tell the supplier the intended transport route and any storage or receiving conditions you know about. Ask how garments and packaging will be protected during the proposed journey, including how moisture-related concerns will be assessed. Do not prescribe an unreviewed treatment or assume a universal packing method suits every material and route. Confirm the agreed approach with the supplier and logistics provider, and include any relevant packing requirements in the written order.

Approve a packed sample and the final costs

Review the folded product inside its proposed package, not only a flat artwork file. Check orientation, size-and-color identification and how the garment fits without unwanted compression or distortion. Record the approved version and ask for printing, component minimums, packing labor and development charges to be itemized. For a Mimixiong private-label enquiry, include the reference products, quantity grid, destination and packing brief. Presentation options and their costs need confirmation for the actual project.

Your enquiry checklist

  • Describe the unit pack and shipment carton separately.
  • Assign responsibility for artwork and printed information.
  • Verify barcode ownership, data and variant mapping.
  • Approve the packed sample, carton totals and itemized costs.
